The DALLAS Film Society Announces
Two Texas Legends will be in attendance at the
2011 DALLAS International Film Festival
Dallas, TX, March 22, 2011 – The DALLAS International Film Festival presented by Cadillac (March 31 – April 10, 2011) announced today that highly respected screenwriter and Fort-Worth Native, James V. Hart and talented and versatile writer, actor and producer L.M. Kit Carson will both be in attendance at the upcoming festival. On April 10, James V. Hart will participate in a special 20th anniversary screening of HOOK followed by a presentation of selected segments from L.M Kit Carson’s docu-series AFRICA DIARY.

Celebration will be in the air for the 20th anniversary screening of HOOK, the 1991 film written by James V. Hart, directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman and Julia Roberts. James V. Hart (screenwriter DRACULA, CONTACT, SAHARA, AUGUST RUSH) will participate in a Q&A following the screening and will share his memories with how he created this sequel to Peter Pan’s original adventures. James V. Hart comments: “Working with the legendary characters of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and Captain Hook was a wonderful challenge for me as they deserve the upmost respect and I had to ensure they remained timelessly appealing. I am very much looking forward to seeing the DALLAS IFF audience react to HOOK 20 years on and discuss the process I went through in bringing these characters to life.”

Upon conclusion of James V. Hart’s discussion, the DALLAS IFF audience will have an opportunity to watch AFRICA DIARY, L.M Kit Carson’s personal journals exploring the new stories of Africa Now. Journalist & filmmaker Carson (PARIS TEXAS, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, BREATHLESS), with producer Cynthia Hargrave shot digital diaries of 3-5 minutes each using their Nokia N93 and N95 cell phone cameras. The New York Times tagged the filmmaker’s docu-work “semi-legendary” as he captures up-close and unforgettable facts and feelings in still-imagesand cinema-verite video. Africa – Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa are stunningly documented. Carson adds: “People tell me it’s hard to get over Africa. Not supposed to get over Africa – you carry it with you.” AFRICA DIARY launches on The Sundance Channel in 2011.

Both HOOK and AFRICA DIARY will be screened at the Highland Park Village Theatre on April 10, 2011 at Noon and 4PM respectively. Free admission but a ticket is required. Passes and tickets are currently on sale: available via online (www.dallasfilm.org), phone (214.782.9168) and in person at the FAUXCADES Box Office: 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane, Ste 100, Dallas.
